How to find out which process is locking a file or folder in Windows

This is a Powershell script some of you might like to have.

I tried it this AM. It's pretty easy to use and very helpful when you are trying to delete a file and the reply back from Windows is "this file is locked" situation. Now you have a way to figure out what file is locking the file you want to delete. It only requires Power Shell 2.0 and above so it should work on most systems.

Introduction - This sample provides a script for IT pro or Windows customers to quickly find out which process is locking a file or folder in Windows.

Scenarios - For instance, when trying to delete a folder, Windows reports this: The action can't be completed because the folder is open in another program. IT pro or windows customers would like to find out what program or application is currently using it and preventing me from deleting the file or folder. This Windows PowerShell script will help them find out which process is locking a file or folder.
