11 Hilarious Old-School Instructional Videos

OMG! OMG! OMG! I remember some of those videos! Jesus... when do I get my AARP card again? I feel the need for a 2.99 Grand Slam Breakfast!

Back in the early days of tech, the only way to learn how to do something was to read the manual. But as we evolved as computer users and our attention spans shrunk to nothing, different methods had to be created to stream information into our brains.

Enter the instructional video. An outgrowth of the training films of the 1950s and 1960s, instructional videos seemed to accompany almost every new tech breakthrough in the 80s and 90s.

After all, if you’re using a graphical user interface, you’d have to waste lots of manual space with screenshots and diagrams. Video is a much more efficient way to demonstrate the use of a modern interface. So it’s only natural that companies like Microsoft, Apple, and others would turn to the medium in order to get their point across.

And, like many other things from the 80s and 90s, they look hilariously bad today. In this feature, we’ll fire up the old VCR and give you our picks for the goofiest old-school instructional videos.

Check out one of them below. See the rest here.
